The first South Pacific World Music Festival, officially opened by the Minister for Tourism, was held in Savusavu on the island of Vanua Levu, Fiji from November 23 to November 27, 2004 and was a resounding success. The next Festival is set for November 16-21, 2005.

The 2004 festival featured the exciting sounds and rhythms of Black Rose and The Heartbeatz from the Fiji Islands and Edou from New Caledonia, as well as local string bands that performed at 3 top resorts. Hundreds of locals and tourists joined in the excitement of the festival, dancing into the small hours of the morning on the final night and shouting for "more".
